(Q) Can the CelLynx in-home repeater be used in a moving vehicle?
(A) Yes. The CelLynx repeater comes with an external antenna input to bypass its internal donor antenna, so it can be used with an (external) glass mount or roof mounted omni directional antenna. The omni directional antenna works equally well at every angle so it is effective with a moving vehicle continually changing directions.
(Q) Will the CelLynx repeater work with multiple service providers at the same time?
(A) Yes. The two main considerations are the frequency bands and the signal strengths of the multiple service providers. The CelLynx repeater currently is offered in two models for PCS and DCS (international) frequency bands. This means that if the service provider is operating in either one of those bands the CelLynx repeater is capable of boosting the signal. If the signals of multiple service providers are in the PCS or DCS band depending on region, a common location for placement of the repeater needs to be found where signals are present from both service providers for ‘repeating.’
(Q) Is there any upkeep required for the CelLynx repeater?
(A) No. It contains no batteries, no moving parts, and is 100 percent maintenance free.
(Q) Can the CelLynx repeater be placed near other electronic components e.g. TV?
(A) Yes, as long as there are: 1) clear paths in front of and behind the repeater for the antennas inside the repeater to operate properly, and; 2) there are no noticeable issues with using the cell phone itself near the electronic component. Note: A GSM cell phone itself can easily cause unwanted speaker noises especially when a microphone or AM radio is in use nearby, so ‘repeating’ that signal adjacent to a radio or microphone could cause interference.
(Q) Can more than one call be boosted at the same time?
(A) Yes, the CelLynx repeater is designed to improve coverage in a home or small office including several simultaneous calls.
(Q) Is the performance of CelLynx repeater affected by weather?
(A) No. Because of the frequency at which cellular signals operate, weather conditions do not affect signal quality and would not impede repeater performance. The CelLynx repeater might be affected a bit by a densely leafed tree if it were right outside its window compared with the same barren tree in the winter.
(Q) Can the CelLynx repeater be used outdoors?
(A) Yes, though this is not recommended. The CelLynx repeater will work outdoors but it is not designed to handle the moisture, temperatures and sunlight of the outdoor environment. Although, it could function as well outdoors, to ensure the repeater will maintain a long service life it should be kept indoors. Better to position the repeater, optimally, inside a window as near to the outdoor area where you seek coverage.
(Q) Can the CelLynx repeater be painted?
(A) Not recommended.
(Q) Is there a way to improve the coverage in a larger area than what one CelLynx repeater covers?
(A) Yes, a second CelLynx repeater can be placed in a location within range of the first CelLynx repeater -- and close to the area that requires the additional coverage – for maximum effect. It is not recommended to do this repeater-to-repeater boosting with more than two repeaters.
(Q) How can I count on coverage from the CelLynx repeater during a power outage?
(A) Add a battery backup system. Systems are readily available and will last for years. CelLynx offers a battery backup option designed specifically for the CelLynx repeater.
(Q) Will the CelLynx repeater coverage reach through to other floors of a building?
(A) Yes. As a general rule the signal loss through a floor is about the same as the signal loss through a wall in a typical wood framed structure.
